Looking for a custom freight service in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, or the Sunshine Coast? You’re in the right place.

Here at Compass Transport QLD, we specialise not only in freight but also in collecting unique items that other companies may refuse. Custom freight can be a complex area to get involved in, but we simplify the entire process for you, listening to your needs and making sure that we meet your expectations. Let’s take a moment to get to understand custom freight better, as well as highlighting how you can benefit from using our services!

What Is Custom Freight?

Let’s start out by going through what custom freight actually is. Freight is a service that you can pay for to transport goods, cargo, or lading to a selected location. Freight can travel by water, land, or air. Some of the most common means of transporting these goods include trucks, railroad cars, and large ships carrying containers. Here at Compass Transport QLD, we specialise in land freight, transporting items from A to B in our large trucks.

Our Custom Freight Services

There are plenty of freight services out there, but we know that it can be difficult to get certain items transported, with many freight services refusing them. We specialise in picking up and delivering items that other companies may refuse. We are happy to collect items from Brisbane, The Gold Coast, and The Sunshine Coast. We’re proud to have served these communities for 30 years now and have developed a bond of trust and respect with clients from all of these areas. No matter what you need to be delivered, you can count on us to complete the task to the highest standards and for a fair and reasonable price.

Why Choose Us?

We are experienced in what we do and only deliver the best service possible. With over 30 years of custom freight experience under our belts, you can rely on us to safely and quickly transport your goods, whatever they may be. When you choose us, you can rest assured that we will tick all of your boxes and leave a smile on your face. We offer fast, reliable deliveries and can often collect and deliver your items the same day, next day, or overnight, depending on what you’re looking for. We also only use quality trucks. We use a Mitsubishi Fuso 1124, which is a 10 pallet tautliner/curtainsider with a 2 tonne tailgate, which also features gates for added security during transport. This curtain side design offers a whole host of benefits over pantecs or those that need tarpaulins. We make sure that our truck is superior, as we expect only the best for our customers.

If our services are what you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to get in touch on 0426 268 184 or send an email to info@compasstransport.com.au. A friendly and helpful member of our team will be able to listen to what services you require and make recommendations or provide a quote. Alternatively, you can request a quote on our website!

We would like to take the opportunity from our side at Compass Transport to thank you for your business and wish you a very Merry Christmas. We appreciate the trust our customers have placed in us over the years, and we look forward to continuing to serve you with all of your transport needs in the next year; as a token of our appreciation, we would like to share the following 5 Road Safety Tips for Christmas!

Avoid drinking and driving

Be sure to plan ahead for a designated driver or take public transportation home if you’re out celebrating with friends. The conditions may be like on the road. Make sure that no friends or family drive while impaired; rather than have them angry with you, avoid an accident. Furthermore, make sure you leave with a full tank of gas and if you’re going on a long drive, be sure to take breaks along the way. Finally, it’s imperative that you make sure that if you have teenagers that they are aware of the rules when it comes to road safety.

Slow down

The holidays can be a hectic time, and it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, but don’t let that haste come at the cost of your safety. Make sure to drive under the speed limit and pay attention to traffic signs and signals. Paying extra attention when driving is especially important during holiday travel times or inclement weather, so always be prepared for unexpected delays or road conditions. Don’t forget to check the vehicle you’re driving. Make sure the wipers, lights and tires are all in good condition before taking off on a road trip!

Check your vehicle

The holiday season also represents an excellent opportunity to perform maintenance checks on your car or truck, such as topping up fluid levels, checking brakes and oil filters etc. – wintery conditions require special attention when it comes.

Be aware of additional dangers

From icy roads to more cars on the roads, there are a few added dangers you should be aware of this season. Snowy or icy conditions can have an impact on your vehicle’s performance, so make sure you allow yourself extra time and space to come to a complete stop. Also, be sure to look out for other drivers who may need to be more experienced in dealing with adverse conditions. Furthermore, the holidays mean extra cars on the roads, so be extra vigilant when in congested areas.

Check your vehicle

Make sure your car is adequately prepared for the season by checking things like oil levels, tire pressure, brakes and wiper blades. Taking the time to check that everything is in order can help you avoid any potential issues or accidents this holiday season. Additionally, if you plan on taking a long road trip, be sure to bring the necessary supplies in case of an emergency.

Be mindful of other drivers

When out and about during the holidays, don’t forget that everyone is likely feeling rushed and may not always be driving as cautiously as they should. Give other drivers plenty of room to make their moves, use your turn signals and don’t tailgate! It’s also important to remember that even though you’re in a hurry, safety always comes first – so take it easy on the roads this season. In addition, make sure to give yourself plenty of time for your travels so that you’re not feeling pressured to make up for the lost time.

In conclusion, we hope all of our customers have a safe, wonderful and Merry Christmas. We at Compass Transport are proud to provide quality transportation services that help make your travels worry-free this holiday season and all year round! Wishing you joy, peace and happiness during the holiday season. Have a very Merry Christmas from all of us here at Compass Transport!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

As the festive season approaches, businesses brace for the busiest time of the year. It’s a period marked by a surge in consumer spending and an increased demand for shipping services. Understanding and adhering to holiday shipping deadlines is critical for businesses to ensure timely delivery and maintain customer satisfaction. This guide delves into the importance of these deadlines and offers strategies to navigate the Christmas shipping season effectively.

The Significance of Shipping Deadlines During Holidays

  • Peak Season Challenges:
The holiday season is synonymous with peak shipping times. Carriers are inundated with parcels, leading to potential delays and logistical challenges. Being aware of the cut-off dates set by shipping companies is vital to circumvent these bottlenecks.
  • Customer Expectations:
Customers expect timely delivery, especially for holiday purchases. Late arrivals can lead to dissatisfaction and harm your business reputation. Understanding shipping deadlines helps in setting realistic expectations for your customers.
  • Inventory Management:
Adhering to shipping deadlines aids in efficient inventory management. It ensures that your stock levels are optimal, preventing overstocking or stockouts, which can be costly for businesses.
  • Cost Efficiency:
Last-minute shipping often incurs higher costs. Planning in accordance with the deadlines can lead to more cost-effective shipping options, ultimately benefiting your bottom line.
  •

    Strategies for Managing Shipping Deadlines

  • Stay Informed:
Regularly check updates from your shipping partners. Carriers often publish their holiday schedules well in advance, including the last days to ship for guaranteed pre-Christmas delivery.
  • Communicate with Customers:
Transparency is key. Inform your customers about the last order dates for holiday delivery. Consider displaying this information prominently on your website and through social media channels.
  • Plan Ahead:
Proactive planning can mitigate many shipping challenges. This includes assessing inventory levels, forecasting demand, and coordinating with your shipping partners early.
  • Offer Multiple Shipping Options:
Providing a range of shipping options caters to different customer needs. Some may prefer faster, albeit more expensive, shipping, while others may opt for standard options.
  • Leverage Technology:
Utilise shipping and logistics software to streamline processes. These tools can offer insights into the most efficient shipping methods and help track shipments in real-time.
  •

The holiday season is on the way and, for a lot of businesses, that means a lot more activity, as well. While there is an opportunity for revenue and profit, there is also an opportunity for disaster if you’re not prepared for the Christmas rush.

Here, we’re going to make sure that all the news this time of year is merry for your business, by looking at how you can prepare yourself, especially through your logistics, to ensure that you’re making the most of your holiday season.

Keep your customers in the loop

As soon as you start to feel the Christmas rush coming, or even in advance of that, be sure to send letters or emails reminding your customers that the season is coming. Let them know that there is likely to be a rush, so the sooner they get their orders in, the better the chance they will be able to get the products they need in time for the holidays. You definitely want those letters out by mid-November at the latest, and another at the end of the month.

Get an idea of your stock needs ASAP

One of the biggest challenges is to ensure that you have the stock you need to satisfy customer demand. While the past couple of years might have a few outliers, given industry-wide challenges, you should still be looking at the prevailing trends over the past years to get a much better idea of how much stock you need on your shelves. You might need to look at ordering stock earlier, or even going with international supply, eating the cost to maximize sales if you can’t get all your supply domestically.

    Automate and digitise

Not only is automating and digitising the process of ordering goods a big help to your customers, but it can also help your inventory management and your freight demand estimates. By automating information on how many orders are made, you can cut down on the time it takes from you and your team, getting accurate and fast reports on how much stock you might need to prepare, especially if you’re opening for pre-orders.

Start stocking the materials and resources you need now

The logistics sector has had a shake-up over the past few years, with services slowing down and temporarily or permanently shutting down. For instance, many of the suppliers are reporting a high chance of shortages come the holiday season. As such, it’s a good idea to start stock piling pallets and other surplus supplies you have now. Make any orders you need now, ahead of time, if possible, and don’t be afraid to get in touch with more than one supplier to help meet those needs.

    Control your volume delivery

While you can expect increased demand, there are also some moves you can make to ensure that demand doesn’t reach a boiling point too close to Christmas, which is guaranteed to end in delays and late deliveries. For instance, you can incentivise your shoppers to place their orders now, be it by providing free deliveries, discounts on your best-selling products, or guarantees for on-time delivery if they are made before a certain date. The more advance your customers can give you, the better you will be able to meet their needs. Of course, there are always going to be those making orders at the latest possible moment, but anything you can do to hold off that pressure is a win.

    Ready your infrastructure

As mentioned, regardless of what steps you take to make the volume of orders more manageable, you’re going to have the holiday rush. As such, you should be ready to scale your infrastructure. This can include hiring short-term or freelance warehouse labourers to help you shift all that extra stock. But it is also likely to include making sure that you can find the outsourced freight planning services that you need. Outsourcing gives you the ability to rapidly scale to meet increased demand, but it’s better to start scaling with as much advanced notice as possible so that you can make sure you’re ready for the holiday period.

Ensure you have the right freight planning partner to help you through the holiday season

At Compass Transport, we are ready to help businesses of all kinds prepare their custom freight needs. Get in touch to learn more about our Brisbane freight services and how we can ensure that you scale things just right for Christmas. We’re ready to help you make the best out of the holidays.

In today’s multi-connected world, the logistics industry plays a crucial role in facilitating the movement of goods and services. From large multi-nationals to local small transport companies based in Brisbane, you might be wondering why local freight services matter and how they can benefit your business. In this blog post, we will delve into the advantages of utilising local freight services over larger, national, or international options. We will emphasise the significance of a personal touch, local terrain knowledge, and the economic stimulation that local services bring to the table.

    Personal Touch and Customer Relationships

One of the key advantages of opting for local freight services is the personal touch that comes along with them. In a smaller, local setup, you’re not just another customer lost in a sea of clients. Local transport companies, have the unique ability to build strong customer relationships based on trust, reliability, and familiarity. As a business owner, you understand the value of establishing connections, and using local freight services allow you to cultivate these relationships more effectively.

When clients interact with local professionals who understand their specific needs, preferences, and challenges, it fosters a sense of trust that is often lacking in larger corporations. This personal touch can lead to enhanced customer satisfaction, repeat business, and positive word-of-mouth referrals, ultimately contributing to the growth of your small transport company.

    Knowledge of the Local Terrain

Navigating the intricacies of Brisbane’s local terrain is no small feat. The geography, road networks, and traffic patterns can present unique challenges that demand a comprehensive understanding of the area. This is where local freight services shine. Your intimate knowledge of the region enables you to devise efficient and optimised routes that save both time and money for your business and for your clients.

By leveraging our familiarity with the local terrain, we can offer clients accurate delivery time estimates and ensure timely deliveries. This level of precision can be a game-changer for businesses looking to streamline their operations and maintain customer satisfaction.

    Economic Stimulation and Community Growth

Supporting local businesses has a ripple effect on the community’s economy. When companies like ours opt for local freight services, we contribute to the economic stimulation of Brisbane and its surrounding areas. The money spent on services stays within the local economy, fostering growth, job creation, and sustainable development.

Furthermore, local freight services often collaborate with other local businesses in the supply chain, creating a network of interdependence that further strengthens the local economy. By choosing local services, you become a part of this ecosystem, playing a vital role in the prosperity of our community.

    Environmental Considerations

In today’s environmentally conscious world, the carbon footprint of transportation cannot be ignored. Local freight services, due to their shorter travel distances, generally have a smaller environmental impact compared to larger, more widespread options. As a responsible business owner, highlighting your commitment to reducing emissions and minimising your ecological footprint can resonate with environmentally conscious clients and contribute to your brand’s positive image.

With so many options of freight services, the advantages of choosing local over larger, national, or international options are substantial. The personal touch, knowledge of the local terrain, and economic stimulation that local transport companies like Compass Transport provide are invaluable to businesses and communities alike. By focusing on building strong customer relationships, utilising our expertise in navigating local routes, and contributing to the growth of Brisbane’s economy, we’ve positioned ourselves as trusted and vital in the Brisbane logistics landscape.

Reliable and on-time delivery is crucial for the success of any business, particularly in today’s fast-paced, competitive market. When deliveries are prompt and consistent, it helps to build a positive reputation, increase customer satisfaction and foster trust. In this article, we’ll explore some of the benefits of reliable delivery services and why it’s essential for your business.

Building a Reputation for Punctuality and Reliability

When your deliveries are always on time, it sends a message to your customers that your business is dependable, efficient and trustworthy. This can be especially important for businesses that rely on repeat customers or those that sell perishable goods that require timely delivery. In turn, a reputation for reliability can help to attract new customers and keep existing ones coming back.

    Maintaining Customer Satisfaction and Trust

Delivering products or services on time is essential for keeping your customers happy and satisfied. Late deliveries can lead to disappointment, frustration and a loss of trust, which can be difficult to recover. On the other hand, consistent and reliable delivery services can lead to higher levels of customer satisfaction and a stronger, more positive relationship with your customers.

Reducing Costs Associated with Delayed Deliveries or Lost Shipments

Late deliveries can also result in increased costs, such as re-routing shipments, additional shipping fees, and the loss of business opportunities. These costs can add up quickly and can significantly impact your bottom line. On the other hand, a reliable delivery service can help to reduce costs and keep your business running smoothly.

Meeting Deadlines and Keeping Production Schedules on Track

For businesses that rely on timely deliveries, late shipments can have a significant impact on their production schedules. This can result in missed deadlines, lost business opportunities and increased costs. By ensuring that your deliveries are always on time, you can keep your production schedules on track and meet the demands of your customers.

    Brisbane Freight Transport

Minimizing the Potential for Supply Chain Disruptions

In the world of business, the unexpected can happen. Delays, lost shipments and supply chain disruptions can quickly turn into major problems. By using a reliable delivery service, you can minimize the potential for supply chain disruptions and ensure that your business runs smoothly, even in the face of adversity.

Improving Communication and Coordination between Business Partners

When deliveries are reliable and on time, it can improve communication and coordination between business partners. It makes it easier to manage inventory, track shipments and ensure that everything is running smoothly. This can help to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve overall performance.

Staying Ahead of the Competition by Providing a Dependable Delivery Service

By providing a dependable delivery service, you can set yourself apart from the competition and gain a competitive advantage. In today’s fast-paced and competitive market, customers are looking for businesses that can deliver their products and services on time, every time. By doing so, you can gain a loyal customer base and a strong reputation for reliability.

    1. What is the difference between a freight company and a transport company?

A freight company typically refers to a business that specialises in the transportation of goods via trucks, trains, ships, or air. This type of company typically focuses on the movement of large quantities of goods or cargo, often for commercial purposes.

A transport company, on the other hand, may refer to a business that provides transportation services for people or goods, and can include freight companies but also can include companies that provide public transportation or transportation for individuals, such as taxi or ride-sharing companies, charter buses, and more.

In summary, a freight company is a specialised type of transport company that primarily focuses on the transportation of goods, while a transport company can be more general and may offer a wide range of transportation services

    2. What is freight Forwarding?

Freight forwarding is the process of arranging for the transportation of goods from one place to another. A freight forwarder is a third-party logistics provider (3PL) that acts as an intermediary between a shipper and a transportation service provider, such as a shipping line, trucking company, or airline.

The freight forwarder’s role is to coordinate the various aspects of the shipment, such as arranging for the necessary transportation, handling customs clearance and other regulatory requirements, and providing warehousing and distribution services if needed. The forwarder also acts as a liaison between the shipper and the carrier to ensure that the shipment is transported in a timely and cost-effective manner.

The freight forwarder can also provide added value services such as logistics consulting, cargo insurance, cargo tracking and reporting, packaging and crating, cargo consolidation and deconsolidation, freight audit and payment, and more.

In summary, a freight forwarder is a company that organises shipments for individuals or corporations to get goods from the manufacturer or producer to a market, customer or final point of distribution.

    3. Are there any downsides to working with smaller companies vs larger (national) freight companies?

Working with a small, local freight company can offer several benefits for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly when compared to dealing with larger, national companies.

Personalised service: Small, local freight companies tend to be more hands-on and personal than larger, national companies. They often have a smaller customer base, which allows them to provide more individualised service and attention to their clients.

Flexibility: Small freight companies are often more nimble and able to adapt to changing needs and situations, which can be particularly beneficial for SMEs that may have more unique or specialised transportation needs.

Cost-effective: Small local freight companies are often more cost-effective; they may have more competitive pricing, and they can offer more customised solutions that better fit an MSE’s budget and needs.

Local Knowledge: They usually have more knowledge of the local geography and regulations, which can make the process of shipping goods easier, more efficient, and more cost-effective.

Responsive: Small freight companies tend to be more responsive than larger, national companies, which can be especially important for SMEs that may have urgent or time-sensitive shipping needs.

Relationship: Building a personal relationship with a local freight company can make the process of shipping goods less stressful and more comfortable.

All that being said, working with a large, national freight company is advantageous if you’re shipping nationally, but for others, staying local and supporting local is in your best interest.

    4. Why have freight costs increased so much in recent years?

Many factors have contributed to the recent increase in freight costs for local carriers, some of them are:

Rising fuel costs: Fuel prices have been fluctuating and have been on the rise, this increased cost is passed on to the shippers and the transportation companies.

Labour costs: Shortage of drivers in certain regions or even in the whole country, increased competition among companies for a limited pool of drivers, and regulations like minimum wage hikes can all contribute to increased labour costs which in turn increases the freight costs.

Insurance costs: As the freight industry becomes increasingly complex and globalised, insurance costs have been rising to cover a greater range of risks and regulations.

Increased maintenance and equipment costs: The cost of maintaining equipment has risen along with the price of parts, labour and the maintenance itself.

E-commerce boom: with the increasing demand for online shopping, e-commerce has generated an increased demand for last-mile delivery services, which are more expensive than traditional bulk shipping methods.

Government regulations: Compliance with new regulations can be costly for businesses, such as compliance with new safety regulations, emission regulations, and changes in trade agreements.

Natural disasters: extreme weather events can disrupt shipping lanes and damage transportation infrastructure, causing increased costs and disruptions to the supply chain.

All of these factors can contribute to an increase in freight costs for local carriers. With most of the above factors out of their control, local carriers have no other option but to pass on the increased costs to the shippers.

When it comes to logistics, November and December are the busiest months of the year. Businesses are making more things so that they can sell all of their stock before the holiday break. People spend more money because of famous shopping days like Black Friday and the start of Christmas shopping.

Since the peak of the COVID pandemic in Australia last year, the demand for freight has stayed at the same level that carriers usually see in November and December. This shows that more and more people are choosing to shop online instead of in person. The nation as a whole has also seen an increase of 80%, but the transportation giant AusPost has witnessed a growth of 170% in Victoria.

Because of the sudden and steady rise in demand for freight services, the logistics industry is under a lot of pressure. Before it begins, carriers typically have months to prepare for a peak freight period. This lets them make sure they have the staff and facilities they need to meet the growing demand for their services while still giving their customers the level of service they have come to expect. During the height of COVID restrictions, the increased demand for services and the restrictions that were needed to follow social distance rules to keep workers safe were hardly noticed.

Fortunately, businesses now have more time to be prepared for increased demand, and with COVID still on our minds but no longer the main concern, they can put measures into place.

On important online shopping days, there will be a huge increase in online sales, which will increase the need for freight services. This is because consumers are turning to eCommerce platforms now more than ever before. The first day of the cyber sales, Click Frenzy, takes place on November 8th, followed by Black Friday on November 25th and Cyber Monday on November 28th.

Even though these sales may not be directly associated with certain industries, these industries will still feel the impact of the sales because the transport companies that they use to transport their goods will also be engaged with the pickup and delivery of online shopping. This will cause these transport companies to have more time on their hands. Freight delays are expected to begin earlier than usual this year because many people start their Christmas shopping earlier than usual to allow for freight delays. It is anticipated that demand will not begin to decrease until well into the new year

We are continuing to see the effects that COVID has had on the logistics industry as we get closer and closer to the new year. Because of this, it has become increasingly clear that in order for companies to successfully navigate their operations in an economy that is very different from the one they are accustomed to, they need to be resourceful, organised, and flexible.

In the days leading up to Christmas, it is essential to plan ahead and bear in mind the possibility of delays. AusPost has announced the dates that they recommend using for Christmas Scheduling to ensure that your freight has the best possible chance of arriving in time for the holiday. However, these dates are only meant to serve as a reference and cannot be relied upon in any way.

Both the manner in which your freight travels and the amount of time it takes to reach its destination will be significantly impacted by the destination of the freight and the service that is booked. When it comes to shipping their products, many companies opt to use the least expensive service offered by the carrier because doing so helps them keep their freight expenses to a minimum. However, if you wait until the last minute to send out freight and expect an overnight delivery on a $10 service, you are not being realistic. This practise is appropriate when the freight does not require a timely delivery.

Our advice is to make advanced preparations wherever it is possible to do so, in order to provide your company with the longest window of time in which the freight can be delivered to its location. Communicate expectation levels with both suppliers and clients. You might want to think about sending time-sensitive freight on express services with carriers who can provide you with transparency regarding the movements of your freight and easy communication channels so problems can be solved quickly.
